Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is very proud of its efforts and best practices using a holistic approach to building an energy efficient and sustainable home for the homebuyer, the community, and the environment.
Habitat for Humanity International, in partnership with the Home Depot Foundation Sustainable Building Program, provided training, resources, and financial support towards our 2008 LEED Platinum Certification. The 2008 Case Study provides a synopsis of the project.
Since our 2008 build, all of our homes have been build to LEED-Certified Platinum Standards and are either certified or pending certification. Our 2010 rebuild project in Florissant is the only project to receive a LEED Gold Certification.
The video below highlights some of the green features of our homes.
Our Green Partners
The USGBC (US Green Building Council) certifies our homes, via third party verifiers, using the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) criteria for an energy and water efficient and environmentally friendly.
To earn the ENERGY STAR and Indoor airPLUS designations, our homes must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. EPA, have additional features designed to help protect indoor air pollutants and is also third party verified.
