Eligible Subcontractor Bids
We respect and appreciate our volunteers and their ablities to build our homes. However, there are some compoments of the home building process that require specialized skills, licenses, or warranties and need to be completed within a certain time frames so that we can stay in our build schedule. These tasks are then bid out to subcontractors.
Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis hires subcontractors to complete the following tasks:
- HVAC install
- Electrical install
- Plumbing install
- Flatwork
- Roofing install
- Foundation
- Masonry if not installing Nova Brick (a mortarless brick system)
- Drywall hanging and taping
- Gutters
- Insulation
- Security system install
- Termite treatment
- Carpentry
The Bid Process
Once our plans are finalized, we create RFPs for each job needed. Along with specs and plans, RFPs are sent to (or picked up by) interested approved bidders. Upon verification of applicable licenses and insurance, bidders are approved to bid on our projects. We require current Workman's Comp Insurance as well as a valid business license for the applicable area in which we are building. Bids are received and reviewed to determine which contractor is awarded the job. The time frame of the bid process will vary from year to year depending upon the details of the build. If you have additional questions, regarding the bid process, contact Jean at jean@habitatstl.org.
If you are interested in bidding on our projects, please email a completed Contractor's Information Form to jean@habitatstl.org.
