Morning Safety Huddle Guidelines
- Explain that HFHSL has safety guidelines that address work practices designed to assure the safety of the workers on the site
- Introduce the person who is assigned as Site Safety Observer and explain this person’s role on the site.
- Mention that the SSO has a copy of the safety guidelines and that there are extra copies available in the storage container (the HFHSL staff will usually have additional extra copies in the office trailer).
- Advise all workers who will be working at elevated locations or near a `leading edge’ that they must read and sign the Fall Protection information on the door of the storage container prior to beginning work at these locations (once per building season is sufficient)
- Encourage the Volunteers to stop working if they recognize a hazard on the site and discuss their concern with the House Leader, Crew Leader(s), Site Safety Observer and/or HFHSL Staff. No matter what we accomplish on the site, we will not believe we had a `good day’ if someone is seriously injured while working
- Remind the Volunteers that most injuries result from a brief lapse of awareness while working. Each worker on the site must think about the consequences of every planned move and correct unsafe practices or address unsafe conditions when observed.
