HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ST. LOUIS
HOUSE LEADER SAFETY COMMITMENT
As a House Leader working in partnership with Habitat For Humanity St. Louis I will:
- Become familiar with the contents of the House Leader’s Safety Manual
- Assure that a Site Safety Observer is assigned prior to beginning each work day.
- Introduce the Site Safety Observer to the Volunteers during the Morning Safety Huddle; explain the Site Safety Observer’s role
- Lead the Morning Safety Huddle; discuss the hazards associated with the day’s planned work
- Serve as a role model for safety on the site by wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment when required and avoiding risky work practices
- Assign the Site Safety Observer as a spotter when work is being performed at elevated locations.
- Provide copies of the Morning Safety Huddle `Talking Papers’ on Fall Protection to the Site Safety Observer that address the day’s planned work. Assure that each volunteer reads and signs the Fall Protection training materials once per building cycle
- Provide safety coaching when needed for the Volunteers and Crew Leaders
- Address unsafe conditions or unsafe acts as soon as they are observed
- Ask the sponsor’s trailer person to audit the supply of Personal Protective Equipment in the site storage container
