ST. LOUIS, MO, March 11, 2004—Two days after Habitat for Humanity St. Louis discovered that thieves stole all of the equipment and tools from seven tractor-trailers at Hope Square, the site of their next house build, hope is being restored.  Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse has made a commitment to replacing a majority of the stolen tools and building materials, a donation valued between $15,000 and $16,000.   Lowe's is also proud to be a Habitat for Humanity Women's Build sponsor on a national level!  Click here!

In addition, we have been receiving an outpouring of support from individuals offering to help--people calling, sending checks, donating equipment, sponsoring fundraisers, riding bikes, running marathons, sponsoring a Trivia Night table, Golf threesome or dinner & auction, becoming a Friends member...

These generous donations will help keep the Blitz Build on-schedule, as site-preparations are set to begin in the next few weeks. Habitat will continue to accept donations towrd the purchase of the new steel rolloffs and office equipment and to further their mission of providing affordable housing for the St. Louis community. Donations can be made by calling (314) 371-0400, by visiting Habitat for Humantiy's headquarters at 3763 Forest Park Ave in midtown.

The 2004 Blitz Build is Habitat for Humanity’s largest build to-date. In just one week in July, Habitat will put twenty homes “under-roof”. The interiors will be finished on a regular build schedule in August and September. The houses will make-up Habitat for Humanity’s first ever-contiguous block of homes. The area is one block east of Grand Avenue and bounded by Bacon, Coleman, St. Louis Avenue, and Montgomery.

Donations and pledges can also be made online through "Make The Difference."
