December 07, 2012 At 10am on Saturday, December 1, the second annual Reindeer Rooftop 5K kicked off. Put on by the SLU campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis, the event had some notable volunteers: the home buyer kids participating in the Read, Right, Run Marathon! The RRRM kids helped hand out water and did other tasks to make the 5K "run" smoothly. One of the homeowners' daughers, 9-year-old Chelsea, ran the 5K at the last minute. Long-time volunteer Marianna - who helps out with the RRRM program - had purchased an extra race entry for a friend who did not end up running. Chelsea decided to give it a try - and did amazing, finishing the whole 5K in just under 30 minutes! At the end of the race, Ryan Hughes (SLU HFH chapter president) gave a big shout out to the RRRM team for volunteering their Saturday morning to help with the race, then presented Chelsea with a Chapter t-shirt. It was a great time had by all.
