Testimonials from Jewish Social Action Network Participants
As I was driving by Hamilton Christian Church one day I noticed a sign announcing the Church's participation in a Habitat for Humanity build and inviting interesting people to sign up. As retirement was looming for me after sitting behind a desk for over 25 years, that sounded like exactly the type of activity I would like since it served the community, a special family and my desire to do something physical. I called the church and asked if a Jewish woman could join their group and keep in the build. I was overcomed and am now building my fourth house with the deciples of Christ group of Churches. My involvement with theses churches has lead to a partnership of the Church group and a similar group of Jewish Congragations in the build of 2002. The benefits of working through Habitat has joined our two religious groups in an effort to build bridges as well as homes.

We love helping people and we love working with our hands so it only seemed natural that we would love Habitat for Humanity. My parents, (my father a retired builder from St. Louis) first introduced us to Habitat for Humanity several years ago during one of our visits to Florida. While vacationing in Colorado last summer we helped with the first Habitat build in Steamboat Springs. We also signed up through our temple (Shaare Emeth) and took part in the Blitz 15 houses in 15 days last year. We are looking forward to working on the next project starting in June.
