The ReStore is almost always in need of volunteers. There is never a shortage of things to do. Helping customers load items, picking up donations, completing minor repairs, sorting items, repackaging things and learning about the myriad of things that go into home repair and restoration make for loads of opportunities for volunteers.
Please take a minute to check out the volunteer opportunities we have available at the ReStore listed below.
ReStore Volunteer Job Descriptions
General Volunteers
This is our most common form of volunteering and the ReStore is almost always in need of volunteers. There is never a shortage of things to do, whether it is helping customers load or unload items, picking up donations, completing minor repairs, sorting or repackaging items, the ReStore offers a variety of opportunities for volunteers of all skill levels. The ReStore is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9:00AM-4:00PM. We can take individual volunteers or small groups (less than 10). Volunteers may request to work any day during regular business hours. Please note that we require volunteers to make a commitment for a minimum of four hour shifts for everyday they work.
Deconstruction Crew
It is often the case that private residences are scheduled for demolition. The ReStore offers the service of coming to the home and salvaging anything that can be re-sold or recycled. It is the job of the Deconstruction crew to make this happen. Volunteers will need to be able to work on short notice as there are not specific dates for Deconstruction, it is based on the when the ReStore’s services are requested. If you are interested in volunteering with the Deconstruction Crew you will be contacted when the ReStore learns about the opportunity. If you are available we request that you commit to a full day of work.
Monday Crew
Every Monday the ReStore is closed to the public and that is a best time for volunteers to be in the ReStore working to prepare it for the coming week. Jobs will include organization, pricing and moving of items into the ReStore. Ideally we are looking for volunteers who can participate on a semi-regular basis, but we are willing to make exceptions on a case by case basis.
Photographers
As the ReStore strives to grow and raise awareness of its services, we would like photographs to help us with that goal. Volunteer photographers are needed to take pictures of the ReStore itself and its everyday operation. We also need photographs of the different crews and events that are associated with the ReStore. The pictures taken will be used in a variety of ways, promoting the ReStore.
If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact Josh Palacios at joshua@habitatstl.org.
