Guidelines for Donations to The ReStore

Thank you for considering the St. Louis ReStore with your charitable donation!

Please note that the following information is meant to serve as a general guide for donors. Acceptable items are subject to frequent change. Legal restrictions and limited storage capacity prevent the acceptance of some items.

Please call (314)-531-4155 if you are unsure about the acceptability of your donation.
Note: We are unable to do repairs or refurbish items, so all items must be fully functioning.


Appliances

  • Must be clean and in 100% working condition
  • Must have all knobs, trays, burners, shelves, etc
  • No rust or missing pieces, knobs, or handles
  • Limited to 10 years old or newer

Cabinets / Countertops

  • Must be free of rot and in usable condition
  • Only complete cabinets with all doors and drawers
  • We do not accept cabinet doors or drawers by themselves
  • Do not dismantle cabinets prior to donation - we will not reassemble
  • No countertops longer than 8 feet

Carpet / Linoleum

  • Only new carpet and linoleum will be accepted
  • No area rugs or throw rugs will be accepted

Doors

  • Must be in good condition, free of holes
  • Must not have rot, cracks, or separating
  • Prefer doorknobs removed and bagged to sell separately
  • No hollow core slab doors

Drywall

  • Full or half sheets only
  • No watermarks or broken corners

Electrical Fixtures

  • Light fixtures must be 100% working condition
  • Accept electrical parts, lights, wire, and hardware associated with electrical wiring
  • Must be clean and not covered with rust
  • No fluorescent lights or bulbs

Hardware

  • Accept hardware for doors, cabinets, etc
  • Must be in good condition and not rusty
  • Preferably separated by type/style

Kitchen and Bath

  • Must be clean, in usable condition, and no cracks or rust
  • Toilets must include a tank top
  • Only low flush (1.5 or 1.6 gallon) toilets accepted
  • No shower doors
  • No cast iron tubs, unless clawfoot
  • No rust near or around drain holes, not yellowed or chipped
  • No cultured marble sinks/countertops

Lumber / Plywood / Siding / Trim

  • Must be 4 feet or longer
  • Must be free of rot, nails, and screws
  • Accept full and 1/2 sheets of plywood
  • Accept trim

Roofing

  • Shingles must be in complete packages
  • Metal roofing in full lengths if possible

Most roofing materials donations are accepted on a case-by-case basis.


Tile

  • Accept vinyl and ceramic tile, unused and clean
  • Accept any amount of ceramic tile
  • No broken, cracked, or chipped pieces

Windows

  • Dual pane windows only (no single pane)
  • No cracked or missing windowpanes
  • Ask about window hardware if appropriate
  • No window sashes accepted
  • No wood or aluminum framed windows - vinyl only
