rect_on.gif: On Serving on Committees

Don't want to hammer? We all have different talents and interests. Habitat can put them to use! Just look at the opportunities! Habitat Committees meet on weeknights. Construction, Finance, Law, and ReStore Committees need volunteers with relevant experience. Interested? Call 371-0400 or email jacinta@habitatstl.org.

Ambassador Committee
The Ambassador Committee helps to build community awareness while assisting the Volunteer Coordinator with ensuring the overall volunteer experience is fruitful. Assist with orientations, on-site administration, appreciation dinners & auction, and Habitat representation events. Committee meets every other month on the 3rd Thursday.

Interfaith Outreach
Promotes Habitat to the religious sector. Makes presentation and contacts and informs religious groups how they can participate as sponsors, donors, or group volunteers. Have good people skills and enthusiasm.

Family Selection Committee
Year-round working committee processes applications to determine if applicants have the necessary qualifications to become a Habitat homeowner, makes home inspections, interviews and recommends our families. This committee holds an annual application workshop which involves large mailings and working with prospective homeowners.

Family Support Committee
Works with the HFHSL Family Support & Selection Manager and the homebuyer families prior to, during, and after the Build. Committee members help provide guidance and encouragement to the families so that they fulfill their obligations of becoming successful homebuyers. Committee members continue to work with families after closing to ensure that they adjust to homeownership and are productive, well-rounded community members.

Leading Edge Committee
Construction Leaders and interested volunteers who recruit, train, and support Crew and House Leaders before and during the build; provide construction education and social activities.

Special Events Committee
Coordinates fundraising or informational events including Harvest Homecoming, Trivia Night, Golf Tournament, and Habitat Night at the Ballpark. Handles planning, mailings, soliciting gift/auction donations, decorating, thanking folks!
