Individual volunteer construction opportunities are available on weekdays and Saturdays throughout the build season. Individuals may register online by using the directions listed here for Saturdays and Blitz Days. We schedule on a first respond, first schedule basis. All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and are required to fill out a waiver of liability for each calendar year they volunteer.


If you would like to become involved with HFHSL by volunteering on our build site, we ask that you attend Volunteer Orientation. You only need to attend orientation one time, no matter how many years you volunteer. Group leaders are invited to attend and gather information to share with group members prior to their build day.

Orientations are held in one of two locations. Please note which location you sign up for.

1. Our Administrative Office at 3763 Forest Park Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108. Please park along the street at the meters and NOT in the ReStore parking lot adjacent to the building. Bring change with you in order to feed the meters.

2. The Community Education Room in ReStore Des Peres at 2117 Sams Drive, Des Peres, MO 63131. Make your way behind the Sam's Club on Manchester and there is a parking lot to the left of the building.

Build Days

Individuals who have attended orientation may sign up for a build day during a blitz or Saturday depending on availability and need. We expect all construction volunteers to be on site from 7:45am-3:00/3:30pm. Check back often as we release dates and openings as they become available.

The ReStore is a retail store that accepts donated building products (e.g. windows, doors, appliances, sinks, etc). These are then resold to the general public to help support HFHSL in its efforts to help build decent and affordable housing for low-middle income families. The ReStore is open six days a week, and you may sign up to volunteer any of the days and times listed on our website. We update availability periodically so check back often if you are looking for days beyond what is currently listed. Tasks may include donation acquisition, merchandising, customer service, pricing, store organization, etc. Use our online process to sign up for a day.

Weekday Crews

Our weekday crews consist of volunteers who are dedicated to helping our construction staff stay on schedule. Whether you are an expert or novice, HFHSL weekday crews are a great place to begin learning the Habitat construction process and develop specialized skills. We expect all weekday crew volunteers to be on site from 7:45am-3:00/3:30pm at least two days per month. Tasks range from finishing work from the previous Saturday (Monday Crew) to helping the construction staff maintain the build schedule (Wednesday Crew) to getting the construction staff and the site prepared for upcoming build days (Friday Crew). The Tuesday Crew meets in the HFHSL warehouse once or twice a month from 8am-3pm to organize supplies and repair tools. Contact for more details and to obtain a waiver and build site directions.

Construction Leadership

We cannot build homes without the help of our construction leaders who provide guidance and oversight for volunteers on the build site during Saturdays and blitz days. HFHSL provides training to all individuals looking to become a leader on the build site.

Other Ways to Get Involved

Photography/Media - Volunteers are needed to help capture build activities as well as cover some of our special events. This is a wonderful opportunity for a photography student looking to build his or her portfolio or for experienced photographers who are willing to share their time and talents. On Site Administrator - Are you an early riser? If so, consider being an On Site Administrator. These volunteers are at the build site early to greet and register construction volunteers. Hours are typically 7-8:30am on the build site during blitzes or on Saturdays. Contact

Office/Data Entry/Orientation Helpers - Data entry and general office help will take place in our administrative office on an as-needed basis during business hours. You will be notified via email when projects and tasks become available. Our monthly orientations take place either on a Wednesday from 5:30-8pm or on a Saturday from 8-11am. Duties include greeting, putting out refreshments and parking signs, and light clean up. Contact
