Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis (HFHSL) is honored to announce the Pope Leo Village project. With support from an anonymous donor inspired by Pope Leo, HFHSL will not only raise a first wall on a six home development right in the heart of St. Louis City, but also look to galvanize community service engagement across the region.

Pope Leo Village Project

With more than 35 homes under construction in 2026, these six homes (Pope Leo Village) mark the second phase of development in the La Saison neighborhood. Built in the neighborhood of the former Peabody Darst Webbe public housing development, these affordable homes will be purchased by working low-income homebuyers who complete the Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis homeownership program.

These homes are supported and inspired by a generous anonymous donor giving in honor of Pope Leo’s vision and commitment to serve communities.  We encourage everyone inspired and invigorated by Pope Leo’s call to service, to reach out and get involved in your shared community.

Pope Leo Fellowship & Open House

Please join us for an Open House and Fellowship opportunity!
Come learn more about Habitat Saint Louis, our mission and the Pope Leo Village project as we go about a typical Saturday volunteer construction day.
Date: Saturday April 11th from 9am-11am.
Location:  1308 S 13th  St. St Louis 63104 Map here. 
Please be respectful of the neighbors and do not park blocking alleys or driveways.
Event breakdown: Open House and fellowship with Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis staff, volunteers, and homebuyers. Coffee and donuts are provided. Please remember that this is an active construction site and dress (especially shoes!) accordingly. You must be over 16 to tour the active worksite.

More than 20 Habitat for Humanity affiliates are joining Pope Leo and his call for engaged community service and youth engagement.
What better way to help than to ensure the dignity of access to affordable housing for all? Through a variety of Pope Village projects, hundreds of families will know the opportunity, safety, and community of home ownership.
