We have various opportunities for individual volunteers in the ReStore, on the build site, on committees, at special events, and much more. All volunteers (except for ReStore volunteers) must attend a volunteer orientation before getting started. Please see below for more information on how to get involved as an individual. Build Days

Individuals who have attended orientation may sign up for a build day during a blitz or Saturday depending on availability and need. We expect all construction volunteers to be on site from 7:45am-3:30pm. Check back often as we announce openings here and on social media as they become available.

ReStore

The ReStore is a retail store that accepts donated building products (e.g. windows, doors, appliances, sinks, etc). These are then resold to the general public to help support us in our efforts to help build decent and affordable housing for low-middle income families. We update availability periodically so check back often if you are looking for days beyond what is currently listed. Tasks may include donation acquisition, merchandising, customer service, pricing, store organization, etc. Use our online process to sign up for a day.

Weekday Crews

Our weekday crews consist of volunteers who are dedicated to helping our construction staff stay on schedule. Whether you are an expert or novice, our Weekday Crews are a great place to begin learning the Habitat construction process and develop specialized skills. We expect all Weekday Crew volunteers to be on site from 7:30am-3:30pm at least two days per month. Tasks can include finishing work from the previous Saturday, helping the construction staff maintain the build schedule, and getting the construction staff and the site prepared for upcoming build days. The Tuesday Crew meets in the Habitat St. Louis warehouse once or twice a month from 8am-3pm to organize supplies and repair tools.

 

Other Ways to Get Involved

Photography/Media – Volunteers are needed to help capture build activities as well as cover some of our special events. This is a wonderful opportunity for a photography student looking to build his or her portfolio or for experienced photographers who are willing to share their time and talents. Please read our photo guide for more information. Schedule and specific assignments will be determined as needed.

On Site Administrator – Are you an early riser? If so, consider being an On Site Administrator. These volunteers are at the build site early to greet and register construction volunteers. Hours are typically 7-8:30am on the build site during blitzes or on Saturdays.

Office/Data Entry/Orientation Helpers – We occasionally have data entry or general office-work projects during regular business hours. You will be notified via email when projects and tasks become available. Our monthly orientations typically take place either on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 pm or on Saturdays from 9-10:30am. Duties include greeting, putting out refreshments and parking signs, and light clean up.

Youth Program – Because we get many requests on how to get youth under the age of 16 involved in our mission, we are pleased to offer families, schools, faith based youth groups and youth focused community groups an opportunity to partner with us in our new Youth Program! Together we can help shape the next generation of Habitat Saint Louis volunteers, donors, and ambassadors!
