A Message from Kimberly McKinney regarding MacKenzie Scott Gift

Dear Friend,

By now, you may have heard that Habitat for Humanity International and 84 of its affiliates were the beneficiaries of an extraordinary gift of $436 million from MacKenzie Scott. In fact, several friends and donors have reached out to congratulate me, which is why I’m writing to you today.

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis was not a beneficiary of this gift.

I am genuinely happy for those affiliates who received part of this transformational contribution; at the same time, it is my obligation to the families depending on our affiliate to make sure that you are aware that Habitat Saint Louis will receive none of these funds, and that we are still very much in need of your ongoing support.

People are sometimes surprised to learn that Habitat Saint Louis receives less than 5% of our funding from our parent organization, Habitat for Humanity International. That is why your investment in our local affiliate is crucial to our ability to make a difference in St. Louis. When you make your contribution directly to our office at 3830 South Grand Blvd., 100% of that gift stays in our local economy, building homes, hope, and communities for families in neighborhoods throughout St. Louis.

Thank you for taking a few moments to read this message – and please, share this post with anyone you think might benefit from this information. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at kimberly@habitatstl.org. On behalf of the local families who benefit from your investment in our mission and our vision of a St. Louis where everyone has a decent place to live, I wish you peace, happiness, and health.

Sincerely,

Kimberly McKinney
CEO, Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis
