Meet Jordan, Our Newest AmeriCorps Member

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is proud and excited to welcome our newest AmeriCorps member, Jordan T., who will be working alongside our dedicated construction crew for the 2020-2021 AmeriCorps term! We’re excited to have a team member who pays keen attention to details–something that never hurts when building affordable housing.

Due to COVID-19, many of us had to pivot or make quick changes to our every day lives. Jordan was no different and decided to take a gap year at MIT where she plans to study aerospace engineering in the fall of 2021. After taking the gap year, Jordan was looking for an opportunity to serve her community in a direct and hands-on fashion while also acquiring some practical skills. After applying for the AmeriCorps position and a few interviews later, Habitat Saint Louis was excited to extend her the 2020-2021 position.

Serving others isn’t something new to Jordan. In the past, she worked at several summer camps teaching children with special needs.

“I loved getting to interact with the kids and play games with them because they always brought a smile to my face,” she said.

Jordan is a St. Louisan who has an older brother who lives in Wisconsin. She has a cute Goldendoodle Sandy who she says is spoiled rotten–but really, what pet isn’t? In her free time, she enjoys listening to rock music and reading science fiction novels and stories. When asked what she was most looking forward to during her time at Habitat Saint Louis, Jordan expressed how she’s eager to learn new skills in construction while meeting and working alongside a bunch of great people.

We’re beyond excited to have Jordan be a part of our team, and look forward to sharing more of her journey in the weeks to come!
